Firefighter Combines His Passion for Burned Kids and Fishing at this 10th Annual Fire Charity Fishing Tournament

10th Annual Fishing Tournament to Benefit Children’s Burn Camp

Bradenton and Palmetto, FL – Remember when your Dad or Mom took you fishing?  How about Grand Dad?  NO?  Create a memory with your kids and bring them fishing at this special weekend event. Create your own Corporate Team.   How about an all Women’s Team? There’s even a special Trophy for the winning Firefighter’s Team.

This fishing tournament will run from June 9-11th along the Manatee River.  Besides fishing, there will be live music and family entertainment at Bradenton Yacht Club, located in Palmetto, Florida on Sunday. Kids get their face painted, participate in arts and crafts, pick up beads, and much more. An art auction and raffles will be done to add even more money to the charity. This year’s event was created to bring families together on the water enjoying one of Florida’s favorite sports. AND this Fun FAMILY event is FREE to attend beginning at noon pm on Sunday for the Weigh- In Party.

The Fire Charity Fishing Tournament was created from one firefighter’s passion for fishing and for helping children impacted by a fire.  Erik Nicholson, a firefighter for the East Manatee Fire Rescue, says “It is so important for children who have been hurt by fires to have the opportunity to rebuild their lives and regain self-confidence.  The Children’s’ Burn Camp provides those services and I’m proud our tournament provides money for  their program.”  Last year, the Fishing Tournament raised $15,000 for the Burn Camp. We are looking for a TITLE sponsors this year and also vendors and volunteers.   One program of the Children’s Burn Foundation is this special camp where burned children can gather together for a few days and forget that they look different; a place where they can develop new friendships and realize that others have had similar experiences.  They are often greeted by the same firefighters who saved them, who stay at the camp as their “Buddy.”

This will also be our SIXTH Kids Tournament!
